Overview

Clearday: Caffeine & Sleep is designed to help you understand how caffeine affects your body and sleep. Your privacy is fundamental to how the app is built. We do not operate servers, run analytics, or collect any personal information.

Data We Collect

Clearday accesses the following data, all of which stays on your device or in your private iCloud account:

  • HealthKit (read-only): Sleep analysis, resting heart rate, and heart rate variability (HRV). Used to correlate caffeine intake with sleep quality and calculate your personal cutoff time.
  • Caffeine intake logs: Drinks you record, including name, caffeine amount, and timestamp.
  • Symptom logs: Withdrawal symptoms you record (headache, fatigue, etc.).
  • Custom drinks: Drink presets you create.
  • Settings: Your chosen mode (Quit/Reduce/Optimize), bedtime, half-life preference.

Data We Do NOT Collect

  • No names, email addresses, or personal identifiers
  • No location data
  • No advertising identifiers or tracking
  • No analytics or telemetry
  • No data shared with third parties

Where Your Data Is Stored

All data is stored locally on your device using Core Data. If you have iCloud enabled, your caffeine logs, custom drinks, and symptom logs sync across your devices via Apple's CloudKit. This data is encrypted and stored in your private iCloud account. We have no access to it.

Apple Watch

If you use Clearday on Apple Watch, the following data is shared between your iPhone and Apple Watch using Apple's WatchConnectivity framework and a shared App Group container:

  • Current caffeine level and bedtime estimate: Calculated on iPhone and sent to Apple Watch for display.
  • Drink logs from Apple Watch: When you log a drink on Apple Watch, it is sent to your iPhone for storage. If your watch is temporarily disconnected, logs are queued and delivered when the connection is restored.
  • Drink presets and custom drinks: Your saved drink list is shared so you can log from Apple Watch.
  • Premium status: Used to enable or disable premium features on Apple Watch.

All communication between iPhone and Apple Watch happens directly between your paired devices. No data passes through external servers.

Subscriptions

Clearday offers optional premium subscriptions managed entirely through Apple's App Store. We do not process or store any payment information.

Data Deletion

You can delete all your data at any time by deleting the app. Since we do not store any data on our servers, deletion is immediate and complete. iCloud data can be managed through your device's iCloud settings.

Children's Privacy

Clearday is intended for users aged 17 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
